Photo of: East Coast of Ireland: Louth: Boyne Estuary.
A view of the Boyne estuary at sunset. The town of Drogheda is a few miles upstream (to the left).
The old stone navigation markers can be seen on either side of the river channel. At high tide the mud flats seen here are submerged. The channel is quite deep allowing large ships to sail to the port of Drogheda, which was once one of the largest ports in Ireland.
